Preparing Public Records Request Responses

Government agencies respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and public records requests by compiling, redacting, and delivering responsive documents. Large request responses may span thousands of pages from multiple departments.

Workflow

  1. Collect responsive documents from all relevant departments
  2. Convert any non-PDF documents to PDF format for consistency
  3. Use the PDF Merger to compile all responsive documents into a single package
  4. Use the PDF Page Organizer to add Bates numbering pages and a document index
  5. Apply PDF Compression to reduce file size for electronic delivery
  6. Deliver the response package to the requester through the records portal
